I’m Iva Chen, The Digital Dating Coach! I am a first generation online dater, meaning I started digital dating back in the 90’s when there were AOL chat rooms (Sounds so creepy now). In the year 2000, I was home from college, bored over winter break, and my cousin suggested I try a new website called “AsianFriendFinder.com”. I met some great guys on there (one who turned into a long-term boyfriend) and that was the start of my digital dating journey. Over 100 dates, many frogs, and 4 long-term boyfriends later, I finally met my husband on Match.com and have been very happily married since 2012.
I made all the mistakes that many women make and after the frustration of tons of failed dates and long-term relationships, I began to really study what I was doing wrong. I was never the most popular girl in school or the prettiest, and have always struggled with my weight, but I’ve always been a “go-getter”, and dedicated to my career and community. I wanted someone who could see me for my soul and not just my exterior.
I made it my mission to learn how I could find love in the ultra-competitive dating landscape of Los Angeles, home of some of the most beautiful people in the world. I read tons of relationship and self-help books, attended a PUA Bootcamp (more about that later) and literally studied what I like to call “The Science of Love”. It was so hard to break my old dating habits but I knew what I had to do and implemented everything I had learned and…IT WORKED! I had finally cracked the dating code and figured out The Science of Love.
I shared my discoveries with friends and family and successfully helped them find love as well. I wanted to make it my mission to help people find love which is what led me, in 2010, to start my own matchmaking and date coaching company, Asian Luxe Matchmaking.
Today, I want to share my knowledge freely with the world and that’s why I created this site, The Digital Dating Coach. I want it to be the place where you can get all your dating questions answered. I want everyone to find the kind of love I have found. I want everyone to feel loved and be loved. I truly believe there is someone out there for everyone and I am here to help you find that person.
