Quick Love Advice for Teens

What I would tell my 15 year old self…

The other day, I received an Instagram Direct Message from one of my IG followers.  At first, I thought maybe it was someone catfishing me, but the more I chatted with him, the more I realized, he’s an amazing young man (15 years old), with legitimate questions about love…probably the same questions many of us had when we were 15.  The whole conversation gave me warm fuzzies, and I want to share my love advice for teens with you:

Boys, Ever hear that TLC song “Scrubs“?  Focus on your education and getting into a good college so you can have a successful career.  Marriage minded, wife-worthy women, will be looking for someone who is responsible, dependable, and financially stable.  When you possess all those qualities, your choices will be limitless.

Girls, I know you’re already dreaming about your wedding day and can’t wait for Prince Charming to show up.  Well, for the majority of us, it’s going to take a while…say, at least another 10 years.  So…in the meantime, have fun, enjoy your free-time, work on yourself, focus on school, college, a career of your own, being financially independent, and happy with yourself.  Take care of your mental and physical health. That way, when Prince Charming shows up, you’ll be ready.

*Very Important Note: Boys & Girls, please please please, stay away from sex.  I know you all have raging hormones and curiosity, but besides the nasty STD’s that you can get that, that worst case scenario, you could die from, you could end up with an unintended pregnancy.  Becoming a parent at such a young age will severely challenge your future potential to graduate from college, find a good job, and find a good spouse.  Is that really what you want?  Don’t sacrifice your forever for temporary immediate gratification
